Invisalign Dentist: About Propel Technology
Lynn Dental Care is excited to announce that we now offer Propel technology with our Invisalign treatments. Propel is a fantastic new innovative technology that greatly reduces your Invisalign treatment time. By using Propel our Invisalign dentist is able to encourage tooth movement and get you to the beautiful smile you want even faster than before.
So What is Propel?
Propel is a tool that is used to stimulate the bone around the teeth. SoftPulse Technology uses micro pulses to change and remodel the bones. This greatly accelerates tooth movement, sometimes cutting your treatment time in half. Propel is safe, gentle, and can be done during a short visit with your Invisalign dentist. Occasionally, a second application of Propel can be administered after a couple months to further expedite your treatment process. Clinical studies have shown that Propel does significantly reduce the time you need Invisalign.
What is the Procedure Like?
The procedure is relatively quick and simple. You’ll come to your scheduled appointment with your Invisalign dentist, and they’ll do a quick check on your progress. To start the procedure they’ll have you rinse with an antibacterial mouthwash. After this, a local numbing agent will be put on your gums. Your Invisalign dentist will then apply the Propel technology to areas where tooth movement is most needed. The Propel device is used to make a series of small holes in the bone called microosteoperforations. These holes will be placed in several locations where tooth movement is difficult, determined by your Invisalign dentist. The procedure is virtually pain-free and you can go back to daily activities fairly soon after.
How is Recovery?
You can go back to daily activities right after your appointment, as the procedure is fairly simple and standard. We do recommend trying to get some rest afterward, as you may experience some bleeding and slight discomfort the rest of the day. Bleeding should stop by the end of the day, and any slight pain can be managed with over the counter acetaminophen.
