All Porcelain Crowns: Sensible & Chic Dallas TX
In the past, people who had crowns no longer enjoyed an all-white smile. Crowns were made of metal, making them obviously different from natural dental porcelain. But dental materials have come a long way, baby! Today, we have high-quality, durable dental porcelain that looks like natural tooth enamel.
I prefer to place all-porcelain crowns on teeth that show when a person smiles. For teeth further back in the mouth, a more durable material is necessary, so I often use porcelain-fused-to-metal or zirconia crowns. All of these materials look natural.
Sometimes, on molars that do not show in a smile, I still use metal crowns for optimal durability on the teeth that must endure intense pressure during chewing. However, these teeth are far back in the mouth, so the metal crowns don’t compromise the appearance of the patient’s smile.
If you need a new crown or a replacement crown, or if you have a toothache and need me to diagnose the cause of the pain, call my Dallas dental office in LBJ to schedule an appointment. I look forward to restoring your oral health without compromising your all-white smile!
